Your simplified review of Motorola Moto G5s!

Motorola is known for its performance-oriented devices, and every time there’s a new launch, the expectations are higher. Moto G5s, which was launched in August 2017, belongs to the under-15k segment, and it would fair in advance to say that this is one of the best devices you can find for the price. Below is a quick review.

Pricing and basics

The 32 GB ROM and 4 GB RAM variant of Motorola Moto G5s is priced at ₹14999, but online stores always have discounts that you can avail. It features a 5.2-inch Full HD 1080p display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. In terms of hardware, the device runs on the 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor coupled with 4 GB RAM. You get 32 GB internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. In terms of camera, there’s a 16 MP shooter on the rear, and a 5 MP camera on the front. If you are a lover of stock Android experience, you will be happy to know that it runs on Android 7.1, and as always, you can expect an update soon. Weighing at 157 grams, this is a thin device, which does have a premium feel. The phone runs on a 3000mAh non-removable battery.

What’s good?

Finally, Motorola has come up with an all-metal body for its new devices, which is a huge improvement for sure. This device was launched along with Moto G5S Plus, which also has similar features but a bigger screen. The 5.2-inch full-HD screen is great for the price point for sure, but in the daylight, the reflective properties do make an impact. This is one of the dual-camera smartphones, which is again a great thing for the fact that more expensive models like Vivo V7 Plus don’t have the same. To be fair, Moto G5S does have some heating issues, but works better than many other models.

On the flip side

Well, this device will have to compete with Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, which sells at a lower price. Nevertheless, Moto is known for performance, and in that department this one doesn’t really disappoint. The only downside is the camera department, which could have been so much better. the performance boost over G5 is missing though, which might disappoint those who own the previous device.

Motorola has been on a dream run. From budget phones like Moto C Plus to new launches, they have managed to target the right segment. Motorola Moto G5s is a great phone by all means and probably among the better ones. If performance is what you seek from your phone, this isn’t a bad choice.
